THE FOUNDER
Emran has been at the heart of some of India’s biggest live events for over 25 years, with a deep focus on large-format production, stage design, and technical execution. As one of the early forces behind Sunburn and later VH1 Supersonic, Emran has helped shape the country’s music festival landscape from the ground up, building festivals that scaled to international standards, with multi-stage setups and high-capacity crowd management.
He’s also been part of major international projects, including representing Tomorrowland UNITE for Backbone International in Dubai and Lebanon, and working with global music brands like Sensation and Pacha. His experience spans top-tier artists such as Swedish House Mafia, Ed Sheeran, Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, DeadMau5 and A.R. Rahman, as well as Amit Trivedi, among others, along with boutique formats like Jameson Connects and BudX Awakening.
Beyond music, he has led large-scale productions across film, sport, and branded entertainment including Filmfare Awards, Indian Sports Honours, Formula 1 & Formula E, and YRF’s Saiyaara.
Birth of Reset Live
In early 2017, I received two defining calls that became the foundation of Reset Live. The first was from my dear friend Bunty Sajdeh, Director at Cornerstone Sport & Entertainment, who had partnered with Virat Kohli to launch the Indian Sports Honours. Around the same time, Joris Joosen from Backbone International approached me for Tomorrowland’s IP, Unite show in middle east. These opportunities marked a turning point in my journey and led to the birth of Reset Live — a venture focused on experiential design, premium live events, music culture, and IP creation with a strong creative and production-driven approach.
SENSATION Welcome to the Pleasure Dome
Produced by: Percept LiveThis show marked both a high point and a turning point in my journey with Percept Live. It was the first-ever Sensation show in India—a global dance music phenomenon known for its monumental scale, having toured over 33 countries. For me, this was a dream come true —it was the last show I executed with Percept Live before officially moving on.

HARDWELL World's Biggest Guestlist
- This show marked a landmark moment in India’s live music history — and Reset Live was at the heart of the execution.
- Hardwell, then the World’s No. 1 DJ, announced this show in July 2015 on social media, building massive anticipation. Positioned as a free concert to support education for underprivileged children, fans could register online, with a target to build the largest guestlist ever. That goal was surpassed with 125,000+ registrations.
The final show welcomed over 75,000 fans at D.Y. Patil Stadium, making it the stadium’s first-ever large-scale music concert, setting a benchmark for all future events including Justin Bieber (2017) and Coldplay (2025)
Between 2013 to 2015, I worked on multiple Sunburn Arena shows featuring legendary global artists such as Axwell & Ingrosso, Mad Decent Block Party, Avicii, Afrojack, DJ Snake, Tiësto, Martin Garrix, and David Guetta.”

Appointed COO of Tyger Productions (Percept Group)
In 2014, I was elevated to the role of Chief Operating Officer at Tiger Productions, the newly formed umbrella division under the Percept Group. This strategic restructuring brought together all production verticals of the company—including Percept’s IP division (Sunburn, Bollyboom, Fight Nights, etc.), corporate shows, and weddings—under one unified leadership. My mandate included streamlining operations, managing large-scale productions across genres, and building efficient, scalable systems for creative execution.

Armin Only Intense World Tour
Attendance: Approx. 10,000+Armin Only ‘Intense’ was not just a DJ concert — it was a 6-hour immersive journey combining Armin van Buuren’s signature trance set with live musicians, performers, trampoline artists, cinematic visuals, and intricate special effects. The show elevated India’s EDM landscape to a truly international level and set new benchmarks for technical innovation and scale in Indian live event production.
This Mumbai leg of the world tour posed significant production challenges, particularly in terms of engineering feasibility and venue limitations. The sheer scale of the rigging requirements—especially for multi-point suspended LED walls, stage-integrated trampolines, and synchronized acrobatics—required active involvement of SVP Stadium’s civil and structural engineers, a first in many ways for the venue.
Dance Temple Stage – Sunburn Goa 2013
A Landmark in Cultural Fusion & Festival Stage DesignThe “Dance Temple” stage was a defining moment in Indian festival production, merging mythological symbolism with cutting-edge event technology. Built for Sunburn Goa 2013 (Dec 27–29 at Candolim Beach), this flagship main stage marked a pivotal evolution in the festival’s visual identity.

Appointed as Festival Director, Sunburn Festival
I was officially announced as the Festival Director of Sunburn. This marked a critical turning point for the festival. The creative and operational reins of Sunburn now rested entirely on my shoulders—ranging from stage design, festival layout planning, and showflow to the overall audience experience. I led the development of all key creative assets including master artworks, artist posters, and promotional material.

True to promise, the show was rescheduled to 22 Jan 2013 in Mumbai, with an additional leg in Bangalore on 20 Jan. Their India return drew massive crowds and marked one of the most anticipated EDM shows of the era—cementing Sunburn Arena’s reputation for delivering global acts and managing large, emotional moments with care and professionalism.
Transition & New Role at Percept Live
Alongside executing Vodafone Speedfest / Lewis Hamilton Night Street Drive, 2012 marked a personal milestone: I was promoted to Production Director for Sunburn & the newly formed division Percept Live. This was the start of building a fresh team focused on IP‑led events and music/entertainment formats. I handpicked and trained new talent, handed over the corporate division legacy, and set Percept Live on the path of innovation and growth in large‑scale productions.
Vodafone Mclaren SpeedFest with Lewis Hamilton, Mumbai
My final large‑scale project at Percept D’Mark (just before the transition to Percept Live). This was an iconic Formula 1 street‑demonstration held at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, featuring Lewis Hamilton in the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4‑27. It was Mumbai’s first ever night F1 street drive, executed with full support from Mumbai Police, MMRDA, BMC, and city authorities in record time.
With over 65,000 attendees and participation by state ministers and dignitaries, this was one of the largest public activations in the city. I led the entire production — obtaining permissions, coordinating crowd management, and executing logistics across multiple agencies.
This event also marked my farewell to the corporate division at Percept D’Mark. From 2012 onward, I began building a fresh team for Percept Live, my new IP‑oriented division — training new talent and setting the stage for what was to come.
Sunburn International Debut: Sunburn Colombo (Sri Lanka)
Sunburn expanded beyond India for the first time, launching in Colombo. This marked the start of its overseas presence as a global EDM IP. (Afrojack is among major international DJs associated with Sunburn during its international editions, though exact headliner details for Colombo require verification.)
The Year Sunburn Scaled & Sunburn Arena Was Born
What began in 2007 as a humble beach gathering with two stages exploded into a massive three-day experience with over 100 artists across seven stages—spanning two mega festival grounds in Goa. Crowd numbers soared from the early 10,000s to nearly 90,000 attendees, establishing Sunburn as one of Asia’s biggest music festivals.
But perhaps the most defining move of the year wasn’t just the scale in Goa—it was stepping out of Goa entirely.
In December 2011, Avicii made his India debut at Mahalakshmi Racecourse, Mumbai, headlining the first-ever Sunburn Arena. This wasn’t part of the Goa fest—it was a standalone urban concert experience that introduced a new vertical for the brand.
“Sunburn Arena was born out of instinct. A bold, experimental move to test the festival’s reach in city markets—and it worked.”
Avicii’s fresh sound and rising stardom struck a chord with India’s urban youth, drawing double the expected turnout. That night didn’t just mark a debut—it launched a new concert-format IP for the brand that went on to host global names like Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, and Hardwell in the years to come.
Hero Brand Launch at The O2 Arena, London
A turning point in India’s brand history — and one of the most ambitious international productions of my career — was the launch of Hero MotoCorp at the iconic O2 Arena in London, following the end of Hero’s 26-year joint venture with Honda. This wasn’t just a rebrand — it was India announcing its global ambitions.
With a guest list of over 4,000 global stakeholders, we unveiled Hero’s new identity, crafted by Wolff Olins, and launched the Hero Impulse motorcycle with a powerful performance and keynote spectacle. The event featured Shah Rukh Khan, Akon, A.R. Rahman, Ranbir Kapoor, David Coulthard, Boris Becker, and more. Rahman’s specially composed theme song captured Hero’s “New Face of India” ethos — youthful, bold, and globally driven.
Darkroom Collaboration
This event marked the beginning of my creative relationship with Darkroom, one of UK’s leading experimental visual studios. Together, we co-designed high-impact video mapping experiences for both the product launch and the press conference segments — pushing the boundaries of large-format digital storytelling at the time.
This collaboration seeded a longer-term relationship with Darkroom. Their visual language and cutting-edge experimentation later shaped some of the most iconic Sunburn stage designs – the cubezoid — including video mapping-led stage design, automation, and unconventional stage formats that became the signature of India’s biggest music festival.
The Birth of Sunburn – Humble Roots, Monumental Shift
Sunburn Goa was launched with nothing more than two stages, no elaborate backdrops, and a few pulley-driven projector screens manually hoisted post-sunset. The vibe was raw, electric, and full of promise—set against the sandy backdrop of candolim Beach. It wasn’t flashy, but it was real. It was music in its purest form.
The crowd was deeply connected to the sound. When Carl Cox headlined that first edition, it felt like we were standing on the edge of something that could change the music scene in India. And it did.
This was my first real taste of what it meant to create a music festival—a true multi-stage experience. The design, the operations, the chaos, the crowd dynamics, the spirit—it was a crash course in festival building. It was also where I first worked closely with Nikhil Chinapa, who became a mentor. The first two years of Sunburn were golden. Not just for what we built—but for what we learned. Those learnings became the foundation for everything that followed.
Sepultura India Tour
One of our defining moments pre-Sunburn was producing the Sepultura India tour—a 6-city metal onslaught across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Shillong, and Pune. As one of the earliest full-scale rock/metal tours in the country, this was uncharted territory. The logistics of staging a band of Sepultura’s stature across such diverse cities built our early confidence and expertise in multi-city touring, artist hospitality, and high-pressure production.
“We pulled off Sepultura across six cities before Sunburn even existed—proving to ourselves and the industry that India was ready for large-scale international music experiences.”

Head of Production for Sunburn & Percept D’Mark
In 2007, I formally stepped into the leadership role as Head of Production at Percept D’Mark, the event division of one of India’s largest integrated entertainment, media, and communications groups at the time.
This was a pivotal year, not just for my career trajectory, but also for the Indian live entertainment industry.
- This role put me at the helm of some of the biggest live shows, launches, and festivals that shaped the next decade.
- 2007 was also the debut year of Sunburn Goa, where I played a foundational role in building the festival’s production framework and visual language from the ground up.
- Over the next few years, my team and I would scale Percept’s production capabilities to deliver world-class experiences across music, sport, film, and brand IPs — both in India and globally.

The flag-off was arranged at Nariman Point, spanning a 94 km circuit along Marine Drive & Chowpatty. I handled full production movement (including 40 containers of heavy freight), built temporary jetties and paddocks, coordinated crowd management with local authorities, and ensured seamless logistics from setup to teardown.

During this 6-year phase, he worked across diverse event formats, from large televised shows to high-stakes corporate events and global incentive programs, gaining deep expertise in production logistics, creative planning, and international event execution.
Executed over 50 international MICE programs across:

Early Foundation & Breakthrough
Percept AdvertisingEmran Khan began his journey in 1998 at Percept Advertising, where he cut his teeth on the landmark Mumbai Gold Festival project for the World Gold Council.
